The victim was identified as Bittu, 32, a resident of Manshaia Nagar, Sangrur.

Victims’ brother Pardeep Kumar said that Bittu runs a meat shop in the city where he sells pork. However, on Saturday, he was going to pick a pig, and while he was coming back on the Uppli road, four workers of liquor contractor Sanjay Sharma, Bablu, Bhairo, Munish and Lehar, came and hit Bittu’s bike, after which Bittu fell on the road and his head hit the ground.

Kumar said then all the four beat him up brutally and took him to a private hospital. Kumar said when the hospital refused to admit Bittu, they threw him on a road. After a while, Bittu’s brothers Pardeep and Sandeep, who happened to pass by that road, saw Bittu and shifted him to civil hospital in Sangrur. Kumar said he had got 10 stitches in head and feet.

Bablu is a senior district leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
