The three accused, one of whom was arrested, were trying to break into the ATM machine using a gas cutter. Police said the accused also possessed a pistol.

The cops on Friday morning informed the bank officials, who reached the spot and found the cash intact.Police said the accused reached the ATM around 2am on Thursday night. They then started to cut open the ATM machine using a gas cutter, when a police party on night patrolling spotted suspicious activity in the ATM cabin.

When the cops reached the ATM, they caught the accused damaging its machine with the intention of stealing its cash.
On spotting the cops, the trio tried to flee the spot. However, the cops managed to nab one of them.

This is the second such incident in the past week. Earlier, miscreants had tried to loot cash from an ATM at Focal Point, but failed to do so.

It is pertinent to mention that the police commissioner had ordered banks to keep ATMs that did not have security guards closed at night. Yet, such ATMs continue to remain open, leading to increase in loots bids.
