In the case of a 16-year-old schoolgirl’s rape in a government school in Jagraon subdivision, investigators on Wednesday claimed to have found that the officiating principal made a fake entry in the movement register of January 27 last year, when the teachers took her for a pregnancy scan. Police have already arrested the scan centre owner and found that the record there too was destroyed and replaced with a fake entry that she was brought to diagnose an ailment.

Also, the main accused Punjabi teacher and a co-accused math teacher took two along other girls from the school to dispel any suspicions.
However, the two other girls did not know about the pregnancy, police said. In the movement register, confiscated by cops, the math teacher is shown to have gone to another government school as exam observer. SSP Surjit Singh said, “Owner of the scan centre, Dr Parminder Singh Sandhu, has deleted the record of the scan from the machine.” Also, two day before the scan, the two teachers had allegedly gone to the centre in Raikot on January 25 to fix an appointment.
The matter had come to light after another teacher got on WhatsApp an audio recording of the Punjabi teacher and the officiating principal discussing ways of aborting the foetus.
