Investigating the suicide of local shopkeeper Inderpal Singh Ahuja (25), additional deputy commissioner of police (city-2) Sandeep Garg claims in his interim report to have found clues against the cops named in the victim’s last note on Facebook.
The ADCP, however, has asked for more time to complete the report. The initial report suggests that victim Ahuja went to the Dugri police station here on Thursday, the day he went missing before being found dead next morning. It also suggests that the cops had made many calls to Ahuja from their personal numbers and the police station landline.
There’s also record of the transaction of money from Ahuja’s bank account a week before his death. He had withdrawn several lakh rupees to allegedly pay the cops. ADCP Garg said the evidence was not concrete yet but Ahuja had also called these policemen thrice and visited the Dugri police station twice on Thursday. Police have also written to Facebook to seek details from Ahuja’s online account.
The railway police had registered a case of abetment to suicide against inspector Davinder Chaudhary and two other cops — Swarn Singh and Buta Singh — on Sunday, three days after the death of Ahuja. Earlier, the railway police had claimed that the family was not keen to pursue the case. Alleging police harassment and threats of framing in a drug case, Singh Ahuja had ended his life by throwing himself under a train on Friday morning.
