Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested an imposter who allegedly used to cheat public by posing as an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) at village Majupur, 20 km from here.

He has been identified as Sandeep Singh, 40, son of Virsa Singh of village Majupur.
Chabhal station house officer (SHO) Harchand Singh said, “We received a tip off from a secret informer that Sandeep Singh has been duping people in the name of police jobs by dressing in police uniform and impersonating as an ASI.”
Acting on the information, the team advanced towards village Majupur and caught Sandeep Singh on the spot.
“We have recovered a police uniform, a fake identity card and a pistol from his possession”, said Harchand Singh.
A case under sections 465 (punishment for forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), and 170 (personating a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused.
