A 38-year-old man was shot dead on Friday by an unidentified assailant near a bus station in Noormahal area, the police said.

Vinod Kumar, a resident of Noormahal area was shot thrice when he was returning home after dropping off his children at the bus stand, they said.

A priest of a local temple who had allegedly witnessed the incident was being interrogated by the police, said an official.

The police launched a manhunt to nab the accused and an FIR was lodged in this connection.

“The body has been sent for post-mortem examination,” they said, adding that further investigations were underway.
