Man tries to smuggle opium into jail; held

Keeping a tab on drug peddlers, the Patiala jail staff caught a man with 20gm of opium stacked in a ball pen on Monday. Jail superintendent Bhupinderjeet Singh Virk said accused Jagtar Singh, father of undertrial Bageecha Singh, a resident of Kaithal district in Haryana, tried to enter the jail premises without registering his name in visitors' book.

"The accused was caught during checking of accessories within the jail premises," said Virk.
