Enraged over removal of illegal hoardings, former Haryana Congress minister Subhash Batra, who had put up hoardings in connection with Sunday's Punjabi Sammelan here, has termed the MC move as discriminatory.
Various prominent figures, including popular Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan, north India incharge of Trinamool Congress and Rajya Sabha MP KD Singh, former army chief Gen VK Singh, are scheduled address the convention.
Batra said that no one touched the hoardings put up for the Gohana rally of the chief minister. Accepting that hoardings put up for the sammelan were illegal, he said rules should be same for everybody.
Political experts say Batra, who represented Rohtak assembly constituency in the Bhajan Lal government, has been trying to polarise the community by playing identity politics and organising a rally of Punjabi community in the home turf of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is a step towards in that direction.
He had even spent a brief stint in Haryana Janhit Congress, but later switched over to Congress.
