A minor girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour, a 17-year-old boy, on the pretext of marriage at Sant Nagar locality here, police said on Thursday.

A minor girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour, a 17-year-old boy, on the pretext of marriage at Sant Nagar locality in Batala, police said on Thursday.

According to a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, on Tuesday night, the girl, who was sleeping with her grandmother, went missing, but returned the next morning, they said.

The complainant alleged that her daughter was raped by the boy on the pretext of marrying her, police said.

A case of rape was registered against him on Wednesday after medical examination of the victim at a civil hospital, they said.
