The security guard identified as Suresh Kumar told the police that four miscreants turned up at the ATM on Saturday and started trying to cut open the machine with a gas cutter. When he tried to stop them, they overpowered him and held him captive.

But the miscreants failed to cut open the ATM as their gas cutter ran out of fuel. Frustrated, the accused kidnapped him and took him in the car and later threw him out near Ishar Nagar before fleeing.

After the accused left the spot, he immediately sounded the police. Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Amandeep Brar reached the spot and initiated investigation.

A case under Sections 380 (burglary), 511 (attempt to commit offences), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has against registered against unidentified persons on the statement of the security guard.
