Heaps of garbage welcome visitors on all sides of the city. The municipal corporation (MC) makes tall claims of providing clean environment in the city, however, the ground reality is quite opposite.
The garbage dumps right near Dr Mathura Dass Pahwa civil hospital, the military camp on the Zira road, the Akalsar chowk and some other important places are not only creating a lot of problems to the residents as well as visitors but they are also threatening to spread diseases.
Though every day MMC vehicles are seen moving around to collect garbage, but several heaps of garbage are always present in the city on the sides of the roads.
On the other hand, stray animals have also become a threat to the lives of people, especially children and elderly. The administration has so far failed to find any solution to the problem of stray animals roaming around freely.
The problem of stray animals has taken serious turn during the last two years and the same are visible at every nook and corner of the city. The incidents of attack by stray animals have taken place many a time and dozens of people have also died due to such attacks.

{{/usCountry}}Moga deputy commissioner Parminder Singh Gill said, "I have issued an order to the contractor company to clear heaps of garbage in the city regularly. If the company fails to do so, we will take action according to MMC norms."
