Non-payment of readmission fee: Parents accuse Ludhiana school of harassment

Two days after the school authorities of SAN Jain Model School held students captive in the school library for three hours,around 50 parents with their wards protest at DEO office.

Two days after the school authorities of SAN Jain Model Senior Secondary School, Daresi had held nearly 50 students captive in the school library for three hours, parents here protested at the district education office (DEO), secondary on Monday.

During the protest the protesting parents demanded action against the principal. Around 50 parents with their wards gathered outside the DEO office and raised slogans against the school authorities for harassing them. After they protested for 15 minutes, five parents were asked, to meet the district education officer (secondary) Sarabjit Singh.

During their meeting with the district education officer, the parents demanded from him to take action against the principal for harassing the students, in the school on Saturday. After hearing the parents out Singh marked an inquiry and asked Jagdev Singh Sekho, principal Government Senior Secondary School, Multipurpose to look into the matter.

A parent, Jasbir Singh, alleged, “My daughter was thrashed by one of the female teachers in the school for not submitting the school fee.” Several parents also said that the school authorities were being unfair to the students about the pending fee issue. One of the protesting parent said, “The school authorities are not allowing the students to attend classes. Students are being asked to sit in the library for the whole day.”
