The nurses’ associations protesting against comedian Kapil Sharma for portrayal of their profession in a poor light in his show are not satisfied with the recent clarification issued by Sony TV, the entertainment channel that airs ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.

In a letter addressed to the Trained Nurses’ Association of India, the channel said the show was for entertainment purpose and it had no intentions to hurt anyone. “The actor only wears a white uniform and there is nothing in the show to even remotely suggests that a comparison is being made with a nurse. The characters and incidents depicted in the show are more of comedy pantomic and are entirely fictious, as stated prominently in the disclaimer that precedes the show,” states the reply. The channel also clarified that it has utmost respect for the noble profession of nurses.
However, nurses from Amritsar, Kapil’s birthplace, who have registered a complaint at a police station alleging that the show has demeaned their profession by objectifying them, say the channel does not address their issues.

State general secretary of the Punjab Nursing Association Raj Bedi said: “We are not happy with the reply. We plan to intensify our protest.”
While actor Rochelle Rao plays a “hot” nurse, Kiku Sharda plays an “overweight” nurse, in certain acts of the show.
