A day after the death of a photojournalist Tarun Shammi of Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar, Jalandhar police have registered a case against ‘unidentified’ officials of the municipal corporation for causing death by negligence here on Tuesday morning.
Shammi died in hospital in the early hours of Monday of injuries caused by the road mishap on Saturday night.
He had fallen from his motorbike after it got stuck in a pothole near HMV College. A resident of Gurdev Nagar locality, he is survived by his mother, wife and two children.

Assistant police commissioner (North) Navneet Singh Mahal said, “We have registered a case against unknown MC officials under section 304A (Causing death by negligence) of IPC.”
“We will include the names of guilty persons in the FIR during the course of the probe,” the ACP added.
On Monday, Shammi’s family had delayed the cremation in protest against the municipal corporation, and the print media association demanded a government job for his family members from the government.
