The petitioner, CS Sidhu, a former armyman, had also sought directions to the Union government to devise a national policy on the financial and social security of martyrs’ families.

The petition was withdrawn as the division bench of justice SK Mittal and justice HS Sidhu granted the opportunity to the petitioner to follow up his letters written to the central government in this regard.

The attack on the Pathankot airbase had claimed the lives of seven security personnel.

The petitioner had also submitted that there was no specific policy regulating compensation and welfare of families of army personnel.
