The local police has booked 10 persons including a couple for fraudulently selling land of a NRI Jagdeep Singh, a resident of Sirhind, who have settled in Hong Kong. The police has arrested four persons in the case.
Fatehgarh Sahib SSP H.S. Mann informed that Jagdeep Singh had complained to police through e-mail that his three acre prime land in Sirhind was sold by someone in around Rs 4 crore.After the complaint, Jagdeep Singh relative Kiranbir Singh Bedi, a resident of Patiala had taken up matter with the police.
He told the police that he is legal caretaker of Jagdeep's 25 Kanal 5 Marla land.He received a phone call that some persons tried to get possession of Jagdeep land. He immediately intimated Jagdeep, who told him that he did not sell his land.
After receiving the complaint, Fatehgarh Sahib SSP marked inquiry to Fatehgarh Shaib DSP, who during investigation found that the mutation of the NRI land was done in the name of Balbir Rai, a resident of village Rayia(Ludhiana), Kewal Singh, a resident of village Bibipur(Patiala), Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Aluna Tola(Ludhiana) on July 24, 2012. Ravinder Kumar had signed as witnesses on the mutation. The SSP said during investigation the mutation of the land was done by the NRI nephew Inderpal Singh, his wife Suman, a resident of Sirhind and Jagmeet Singh of Ludhiana.

{{/usCountry}}They had prepared fake voter and PAN card of the NRI Jagdeep Singh and the sold the land by introducing a conman as NRI . The SSP said four arrested persons confessed before police that they had purchased land in Rs 1.57 crore and they had paid Rs 57 lakh to Inderpal Singh.
The police had arrested witnesses Nambardar Paramjit Singh, Ravinder Kumar, Kewal Singh and Jit Singh. They had presented in the court where they were remanded in police custody till Monday. The SSP said the police was conducting raids to arrest the six other accused.
