Director general of school education Kahan Singh Pannu suspended Paramjit Kaur on the basis of a detailed report submitted by Barnala district education officer.

Pannu said, according to the report, the suspended principal used to cajole the girl students into performing her domestic chores at her residence in Barnala city.

"She made students mop, clean and wash her clothes, lest they should face dire consequences back at the school. She even made students clean the toilets and bathrooms at her residence," he said.
The report further said that parents of the aggrieved students had complained about this exploitative attitude to the district education department.

"She has repeatedly taken the services of their wards in the past many days. Many a time, she sent girl students back to their houses alone at odd hours without taking care of their security," said Balbir Singh, father of one of the girls of the village.

Paramjit is also alleged to have bunked classes even as she penalised students for failing to attend even a single class; she used to strike their names off the school register.

The suspension order read, thus, "It was completely irresponsible and despotic. Such gross indiscipline could not be tolerated at any cost".
