The IKG-PTU is holding counselling for its own colleges and those affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, and Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University, Bathinda, for BTech, MTech, MPharmacy, MBA and MCA courses.

The PTU staff is up in arms against shifting of `75 crore from the varsity to Bathinda-based Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University.

Sources said the National Informatics Centre (NIC) that has been outsourced by the IKG-PTU to conduct the online counselling has already submitted the result to the varsity. As varsity employees - who are on strike - have to conduct fee verification before declaring results, the delay has happened.

As per the admission schedule, from Thursday onwards, the varsity would start inviting applications for the second round of counselling ."The delay would make the entire admissions process messy," said a senior employee of the varsity.
