Punjab: 17-kg heroin seized; 1 Pak smuggler killed
The Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation with the special cell of the Punjab Police, killed a Pakistani smuggler, when he entered Indian territory carrying 17kg heroin and some quantity of opium.

Giving details, Dinesh Kumar, Commanding Officer, 38 Battallion of BSF, said that company commander Neeraj Kumar deputed at the Kamalpur Jattan border out-post (BOP) noticed some movement along the border on Monday night and asked the infiltrators to surrender. However, they did not budge and in the ensuing encounter one Pakistani smuggler was killed. However, his other accomplices managed to escape.
During search, 17-kg heroin, two mobile phones, two Pakistani SIM cards and 100-gm opium were also recovered from the possession of the deceased smuggler.
The police also arrested two of his Indian contacts, identified Jagdeep Singh alias Jaggi, resident of Nikko Saran village under Dera Baba Nanak police, and Varun Puri, a resident of Hatti Gate, who have been handed over to the special operation cell.
The body of the Pakistani national has been handed over to the police.
