Punjabi singer Dharampreet cremated at his native village

Punjabi singer of the Malwa region, Dharampreet, who allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house in Bathinda on Monday, was cremated at his native village Bilaspur under Nihal Singh Wala subdivision, 41 kilometres from the district headquarters, on Tuesday.

Punjabi singer of the Malwa region, Dharampreet, who allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house in Bathinda on Monday, was cremated at his native village Bilaspur under Nihal Singh Wala subdivision, 41 kilometres from the district headquarters, on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people gathered at Bilaspur and paid homage to the singer. Dharampreet was born at Bilaspur village in 1976. After completing his graduation, he took music lessons from dhadi Gurbax Singh Albela at Buraj village under Rampura Phul subdivision in Bathinda district. The singer’s popular music album “Dil naal khed de rahi”, which sold 23 lakh copies, was released in 1997.

Famous Punjabi singer Mohammad Sadique said Dharampreet entered in the field of Punjabi music industry with his first album “Khatra hai sonya nu’ in 1993 under the name of Bhupinder Dharma. Some of Dharampreet’s popular albums include “Ajj sada dil tod ta”, “Aina kade vi ni roya”, “‘Tutte dil nahi jurhde”, “Dar lagda vichhran ton”, “Tutiya tdhak kar ke”, and religious albums “Parh satgur di bani”, and “Je rabb mil jaye”, said Sadique.
