‘Shimla film fest an added attraction for people’

Presiding over the closing ceremony of Shimla Film Festival-2014 at Gaiety theatre here on Sunday evening, she said this event was an added attraction for people of the state as well for tourists who visit this historical town famous for its British era heritage.

She said Himachal Pradesh had always been a favourite destination among film makers and the history shows that many renowned actors shared close relationship with Himachal.

“I feel that films are the appropriate medium to disseminate the culture and traditions of the state worldwide,” said Singh. The film producers of the state should also come forward and work sincerely in this direction, she said.

She appreciated the efforts of the organisers who had generously put in their efforts to promote the cultural and artistic activities through this festival.

In the short-films section, the first prize was given to “The Bench” by Prakash Singh and Vishal Singh followed by runner-up award to “Beti Ek Anmol Tohfa” by Pankaj Sharma.

In the documentary section, the award was bagged by “Shiva’s Abode Shrikhand Peak” by Mayank Gupta.

“Bhole Baba” by Ravinder Randhawa and “Amma Puch Di”, an animated video by Vikas Rana, were winners under the music video section.

The jury’s award was bagged by the short film “AAkhiri Munadi by Ahsan Baksh.
