Shop owner shot at, Rs 20,000 looted

Two miscreants looted bag containing `20,000 from a shop owner after shooting him twice in his thigh and hip joint at the New Subhash Nagar area outside his house late on Sunday. The shopkeeper has been rushed to a private hospital from where he was referred to the Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).

Two miscreants looted bag containing `20,000 from a shop owner after shooting him twice in his thigh and hip joint at the New Subhash Nagar area outside his house late on Sunday. The shopkeeper has been rushed to a private hospital from where he was referred to the Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).

Harmeet Singh, the victim, owns a department store in the New Subhash Nagar area, near his house. The police officers reached the spot and initiated investigation. The police have recovered two shells of .32 bore bullets. The Basti Jodhewal area police have registered a case against two unidentified miscreants in this context.

According to police, Harmeet was going to his house after closing the store. As he reached near his house, two miscreants tried to snatch his bag. While Harmeet resisted the their efforts, the miscreants flashed a pistol and opened fire. The miscreants shot him twice in his thigh and hip joint. As he fell on the road, the miscreants snatched the bag from his hand and fled.

The police suspect that the accused were chasing Harmeet from his shop. The miscreants were aware about the fact that the shopkeeper takes cash to his home after closing the shop.
