Victim Jaswant Singh’s body was recovered from a canal in Sadda Singh Wala village on Monday, after which a first information report (FIR) under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was lodged.

Police questioned his wife Beant Kaur who confessed that she and her friends, Jiwan Singh and Sukhpal Singh, killed her husband.

“The wife and her accomplices strangulated Jaswant and then threw the body into the canal,” a cop said. All accused have been booked under 302, 201, 34, 120 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Jiwan and Sukhpal are still at large.
