2 killed, 5 injured in dynamite blast at hydroelectric project in HP

Two persons have been killed while five are reportedly injured in a blast at the 450 MW Shongtong Karchham Hydro Electric Project in Kinnaur district. The blast occurred around 6am today when en engineer was inspecting the dynamite installed to carry out a blast to construct second Adit tunnel.

The dynamite went off killIng two - one from Kerala and the other from Nepal - while five others were injured, said sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Major Vishal Sharma.

Superintendent of police Kinnaur Rahul Nath said the concerned families have been informed. “Case is yet to be registered ,”said Nath, who was on his way to the spot.

The project is being constructed by the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation limited.
