According to the area residents, these newly-constructed manholes have been lying open for more than one month, but the officials concerned are not paying attention.

Ramesh Srivastav, a resident, said, "Though the sewage system has not started functioning, but the newly-constructed uncovered manholes can cause big mishap anytime. There is no warning board installed there. These manholes are in Isher Nagar, which is adjacent to Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College on Malerkotla Road. Municipal corporation should take immediate action."

Sandeep Singh, a resident of Isher Nagar, said, "I appeal to the authorities to take action to cover these manholes, as they are in middle of roads that leads to Isher Nagar. This is a busy road and there is also need to fill the potholes on this road."
