Woman, infant killed in Moga road mishap

A 27-year-old woman and her three-month-old son were killed after a Punjab Roadways bus hit a motorcycle they were riding at Dosanjh village in the district on Thursday.

A 27-year-old woman and her three-month-old son were killed after a Punjab Roadways bus hit a motorcycle they were riding at Dosanjh village in the district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Harjinder Kaur, 27, and her son Maninder Singh, residents of Charik village.

The accident took place when Harjinder, her son and daughter Ishinder Kaur were returning along with the former’s husband Balwinder Singh after paying obeisance at a religious place.

A speeding roadways bus hit their motorcycle from the rear. While the woman and her son died on the spot, her husband and the daughter sustained minor injuries and were admitted to the civil hospital, Moga. Police said the bus driver managed to flee the spot and the police were conducting raids to nab him.

A case has been registered under Sections 304-A (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the Indian Penal Code.
