I’m ready with Ghilli 2 script. If Vijay agrees, we can start the film: Dharani

Director Dharani said he is ready with the script of Ghilli 2 and will begin work as soon as actor Vijay gives him the green signal. Ghilli celebrates the 13th year of its release this year.

While the fans of Ilayathalapathy Vijay have been fervently celebrating the 13th anniversary of his blockbuster 2004 release Ghilli over the past four days, director Dharani’’s recent confirmation about a sequel to the project has raised expectations among moviegoers.

Ghilli starred Ilayathalapathy Vijay, Trish Krishnan and Prakash Raj.

In a media interaction, Dharani has said, “I’ve already prepared the story for Ghilli 2 with an interesting knot. If Vijay agrees, we can start the film anytime.”

Remade from the Telugu superhit Okkadu which starred Mahesh Babu in the lead role, Ghilli has been one of Vijay’s true-blue box office hits which redefined his career. Before Ghilli, Vijay delivered a string of flops including Vaseegara. Shahjahan and PuthiyaGeethai, his box-office clout literally dwindled among exhibitors and distributors. With the release of Thirumalai in 2003, Vijay managed to get some of his box office mojo back but it was Ghilli which proved profitable to all the stakeholders.
