Tamil drama Kutrame Thandanai (Crime is Punishment) made by Kaaka Muttai director M Manikandan, will have its international premiere at the upcoming New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF). The festival is scheduled to take place between May 7-14.

Kutrame Thandanai will be screened in the Regional Cinemas of India Panel section. Starring Vidharth, Aishwarya Rajesh and Pooja Devariya, the film has background score by maestro Ilayaraja.

In 2015, the film had its Indian premiere at Mumbai International Film Festival. Kutrame Thandanai is the story of a mild-mannered collections agent in desperate need of money. He debates whether needs define morality and whether it is fine to co-opt with corruption by staying silent when he discovers the dead body of his young, female neighbour.
