Satellite rights of Dileep’s new film Ramaleela sold at a record price

Ramaleela, starring Dileep in the lead role, has done very well at the Kerala box office. Now, the sale of its satellite rights too is creating waves.

Dileep-starrer Ramaleela, which released in September when he was still in jail in connection with the abduction and sexual assault on the Malayalam actress, has become a blockbuster. Now, news is that the film’s satellite rights have gone for a huge price. It has been brought by Mazhavil Manorama, a popular entertainment channel in Kerala, reports The News Minute.

The exact sum hasn’t been disclosed but it is said to be a substantial amount.

Ramaleela’s release has been mired in the controversy surrounding Dileep. First, the film, which was to hit the screens in July this year, had to be postponed at the last minute owing to some production delays. Then, came the entire Dileep fiasco. The makers had to postpone the release following Dileep’s arrest on July 10 on conspiracy charges. Finally, after overcoming many hurdles, the film released in September and went on to do brisk business.

The film, which stars Mukesh, Prayaga Martin, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Siddique and Kalabhavan Shajon apart from Dileep, has been directed by debutant Arun Gopy. Produced and distributed by Tomichan Mulakuppadam, the film has been made at an estimated budget of Rs 14 crores. While its music is by Gopi Sundar, Shaji Kumar has done the cinematography. National Award-winning editor Vivek Harshan has edited the film.
