Following the success of Velaikkaran, Sivakarthikeyan has teamed up with director Ponram for the third time for a rural entertainer. On the occasion of his birthday on Saturday, the makers unveiled the title and first look poster of the film. Titled Seemaraja, the poster features Sivakarthikeyan on a horse and holding a flag. 24 AM Studios, the production company behind Sivakarthikeyan’s Remo and Velaikkaran, is bankrolling this project, which also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Soori.
The film marks the first time collaboration of Siva and Samantha, who will be seen playing a village belle. In order to play her part, Samantha learnt silambam, Tamil Nadu-based ancient form of martial arts. Predominantly shot in and around Tenkasi and Madurai, the film is rumoured to feature some period portion as well and according to the industry grapevine, Siva may be playing dual roles in the film.

{{/usCountry}}Interestingly, Seemaraja features Simran in a negative role. “I’m playing a negative character in this one, and it’s something very unique. It’s like another feather in my cap. The film is set against a village backdrop and it’s full on entertainment,” she had said. The film has music by Imman, who had previously worked on Ponram-Siva films such as Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan.
