Veteran film, theatre and television actor Mohan Joshi has been around in the Hindi and Marathi film industry for over three decades. The actor is picky when it comes to choosing projects in any medium and sticks to scripts that are appealing. Joshi says, “I have to find the story relatable or at least interesting to be a part of it. Then there are times when I take up films to balance my economics (laughs).”
On choosing Pushpak Viman, the Deool Band (2015) actor shares that the film portrays the bond of a grandfather and his grandson. Joshi himself having two grandchildren, could completely relate to the equation and immediately agreed to be a part of the film. “I feel the grandparent-grandchild relationship is one of the most innocent and selfless ones. It is all about pure love and affection. I share the same with my real grandkids so it was easy to portray the same onscreen,” says Joshi, who plays grandfather to actor Subodh Bhave in this film.
Pushpak Viman will mark the duo’s 10th film together and Joshi adds that he has had the opportunity to learn a lot from Subodh. “I have known Subodh for a while now and we have a clear understanding on and off sets. In fact, I learnt how to come to set on time from him (laughs). Jokes apart, Marathi films have stricter schedules and tighter budgets, so coming on time is something they do naturally as compared to Hindi films.”
This is also one of the first times when Joshi is promoting his films. He has always found it a waste of time otherwise. “Honestly, I used to not even know which is the production house, who is backing the film etc. Now, with this film it has become clear, also Zee Studios has literally made me feel at home and so have the other actors.”

{{/usCountry}}A Puneite, Joshi is visibly livid of the current traffic scenario in Pune. He points out the indisciplined attitude of residents on the roads. “It is sad how we have made a mess of such a beautiful city. I have stopped driving when I am here as it is next to impossible to drive around, considering the traffic. People have become impatient and reckless when it comes to road safety and discipline. This needs to change.”
Joshi will next be seen in Home Sweet Home, which is actor Hrishikesh Joshi’s directorial debut and Mulshi Pattern, directed by Pravin Tarde.
