Brainstorming sessions, teamwork and regular analysis can help to inculcate a habit of self-learning in your child or student.

Self-learning provides students with a mechanism to grasp knowledge themselves. It helps students to learn better and achieve higher levels of education. Here are some ways to enable self-learning by Nikita Singhal, the founder at Talent4Assure:

* Organise brainstorming sessions: Create open-ended problems that offer multiple solutions and encourage children to find multiple ways before concluding on one particular solution.

* Refrain from providing information: Regardless of how topics were selected, present the problems before providing any formal instruction on the topic.

* Learning teamwork: Throughout the session, ensure the child is involved in the question-solving process and create awareness about the resources needed to solve the problems, along with identifying common problem areas or misconceptions.

* Highlight depth: Let the child work on one thing at a time depending on its relevance and difficulty. Upon completing the research or inquiry, get them to write a report.

* Organise systematic analysis: Analysing progress at regular intervals. If necessary, interrupt group work to correct misconceptions.
