MUMBAI: Indian Navy banked on their fitness and stamina to cruise past Union Bank of India by a 4-1 margin in their opening Super Division fixture of the Mumbai Hockey Association Limited League on Tuesday.

The Navy outfit opened the scoring in the 34th minute through Pawan Raj Bir’s field goal. Ashish Bhosle equalized for Union Bank in the 36th minute, but Navy soon regained the lead and scored two more in the final six minutes. RESULT Indian Navy 4 (Pawan Raj Bir 34th, Ved Prakash 40th, MS Thakur 64th, Rana Pratap 65th) beat Union Bank of India 1 (Ashish Bhosle 36th).

Boxer’s Football Academy posted a fluent 3-1 win against BEST Arts & Sport Club in a Second Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association League on Tuesday.
Seasoned striker Kundra Chandra scored the opening goal for Boxers in the 11th minute before Cejetan Dias struck twice in the 13th and 24th minutes to secure the win. BEST got their lone goal through Bhikru Prithviraj’s efforts in the 22nd minute.
RESULT Division-II: Boxer’s Football Academy 3 (Cejetan Dias 2, Kundra Chandra) beat BEST Arts & SC 1 (Bhikru Prithviraj).
