HYDERABAD: India’s leading badminton player Saina Nehwal says she wants to come back into competitive action stronger after recovering from a knee surgery and indicated that her best is yet to come.

“I want to come back stronger”, she told PTI on Thursday. “I am confident that in the next two-three years I can do better than what I have done in the last five-six years. I have to do better,” the ace shuttler added.
Saina expects to recover fully by December if things go as planned. “If everything goes right, I am keen to take part in Dubai World Superseries Finals during that month,” she said.
NEUFC NAME ZOKORA AS MARQUEE PLAYER
NEW DELHI: NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) on Thursday announced the appointment of three-time World Cupper Didier Zokora from Ivory Coast for the upcoming third season of Indian Super League.
The winner of Football League Cup and Copa Del Rey, Zokora was formerly been a part of FC Pune City, playing a total of 13 matches in the championship. The 35-year old midfielder is the tenth international hiring by NEUFC.
INDIA BEAT DUTCH IN CHESS OLYMPIAD
MUMBAI: Former National Champion B Adhiban defeated Erwin L’Ami as India defeated the Netherlands 2.5-1.5 in the sixth round of Open Section of the 42nd Chess Olympiad in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Thursday. Adhiban, playing with black pieces, capitalised on couple of mistakes by L’Ami to build a strong position and registered an easy win in 66 moves. His win was enough for India for a narrow victory as the other games ended in draw. In the women’s section, India defeated Latvia 2.5-1.5 with Dronavalli Harika and Soumya Swaminathan winning their games and Padmini Rout drawing.
