JCT won the under-19 I-League after holding East Bengal to a goalless draw here on Saturday. East Bengal needed a victory to topple JCT from the perch but the Phagwara side managed to hold on. In another match, Mumbai FC beat Churchill Brothers 4-1 for a third-place finish with three points.

Giving credit to the boys, JCT coach Jagir Singh said they have proved a point in times of adversity.
"I will request Samir Thapar (JCT owner) to look after the boys as they are capable to go further. JCT can still win despite the shocking news of the seniors side. We are really happy," he said.
