Sania will next take on another local player, Vania King, who ousted 16th seed Russian Vera Dushevina 6-4, 7-6(7) in her opening round match of the $721,000 hard court event.

In the doubles first round, Sania and Russian partner Elena Vesnina will take on second seeds from the US Lisa Raymond and Liezel Huber.
