Janko Tipsarevic sealed the victory today with a 6-2, 7-5, 6-3 win over Michael Ryderstedt in Halmstad, Sweden, to give Serbia an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the best-of-five contest. Sweden's Robert Lindstedt retired against Viktor Troicki to make the final score 4-1.
Serbia, which last year secured the elite men's team championship for first time, had won both the opening singles matches even as world No. 1 Novak Djokovic didn't compete on day one because of a knee injury. Djokovic played in doubles, which Sweden won to keep the tie alive.
Argentina on Saturday completed a 5-0 whitewash of Kazakhstan and will travel to Serbia for the September 16-18 semifinals. France, which headed into Sunday's matches having already won its tie against Germany, finished with a 4-1 victory.
