The all-Indian pair of Leander Paes and Purav Raja and Rohan Bopanna and partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France breezed into the second round of the men’s doubles segment at the Australian Open
Veteran Leander Paes and fellow Indian Purav Raja defeated Andreas Haider-Maurer of Austria and Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia in straight sets in the first round of the men’s doubles competition at the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne on Thursday.

The Indian combination did not face too much trouble from their European opponents as they eased to a 6-2, 6-3 win.
Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France, the 10th seeds, also entered the second round, beating Vasek Pospisil of Canada and Ryan Harrison of the US 6-2, 7-6 (5).
Leander Paes and Raja will be up against Jamie Murray of Great Britain and Brazil’s B. Soares in the second round. Murray and Soares beat the American pair of D. Young and F. Tiafoe in the opening round on Wednesday.
