In recent times, there have been several small screen to big screen success stories including names like Sushant Singh Rajput, Yami Gautam and the latest being Mouni Roy. And now, TV actor Isha Sharmaa, best known for her role in popular TV show Jamai Raja, is also foraying into films. She has signed two Kannada films that will be produced by Shankar Gowda.

Speaking about the transition, she says people no longer look down upon actors from television and that is opening up a lot of opportunities in the big screen.

“There was a phase when people were against signing TV actors in films. They felt that TV actors were not good enough for films. But in the last three to four years there has been a change. The whole scenario is different now, Mouni is doing films, there are others TV actors who are starring in big projects as well. The stigma attached to TV actors are no longer there. We are no longer considered any lesser than film actors,” Isha says.

Besides starring in a soap, Isha has also been a part of Vikram Bhatt’s web series titled Twisted. So, now will television take a back-seat since she is doing films? “Not at all. I am also open for TV projects. I can complete a film in 20-25 days. In the south film industry that’s the time period required to shoot a film. It is very quick. Television is where I come from. And I am ready to balance my work,” she adds.
