58-year-old injured critically after teen driver hits, drags him: Cops

A 16-year-old boy, son of a police officer, allegedly hit and dragged a 58-year-old man in Jammu, leaving him critically injured. The boy has been booked and sent to a juvenile home. The victim is currently on ventilator support.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a police officer said the victim Elias Kazmi, a cinematographer from Mumbai, was riding a scooter in Jammu’s Bhatindi when a Mahindra Thar, which was being driven by the minor accused, hit him. (File)

JK police arrest DSP on corruption charges

The accused has been identified as DSP Sheikh Adil Mushtaq. Srinagar Police, in a post on X, said that Adil Mushtaq was arrested under Sections 7 and 7A of Prevention of Corruption Act & Sections 167, 193,201,210,218,221 of the Indian Penal Code. The case was registered at Nowgam police station.

A special investigation team (SIT), headed by an SP rank officer, has also been formed to further probe the matter. (HT File)
