Delhi govt slashes VAT on fuel to 19.4%, petrol gets cheaper by 8 per litre

The decision to reduce the VAT on fuel was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier in the day.

Fuel likely to get cheaper in India as global oil prices dip

International oil prices are expected to fall further because of demand concerns due to Omicron, which has been named a “variant of concern” by the World Health Organisation and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the people said, requesting anonymity.

Oil firms may cut fuel prices on low demand

Brent has slipped below $80 a barrel, the lowest since October 1, which makes a case for reducing petrol and diesel rates in India, they said requesting anonymity.

Supreme Court dismisses plea against rising fuel prices

The petition filed by a Kerala-based advocate, Shaji J Kodankandath, said that oil marketing companies (OMCs), which are directly under the operational control of the central government, were increasing petrol and diesel prices on a daily basis even though international crude oil prices have been at an all-time low since April.

Wholesale inflation contracts for 4th month in a row

The divergence between food inflation at the wholesale and retail levels remained significant in July even after narrowing considerably, pointing to the continued varied dynamics driving food prices as the country emerged from the national lockdown.

Bengal private bus operators demand fare hike due to diesel price hike, Covid restrictions

Various private bus operators’ associations in West Bengal last week met an expert committee set up by the state government to discuss demands made by them, including a fare hike, for the survival of the private passenger transport business.
