Thirty-six prisoners were released on parole and 184 undertrials were granted interim bail for six months in March and April from Haldwani jail.

Uttarakhand reports biggest single-day jump in Covid-19 deaths; state tally at 8,901

A total of 112 Covid-19 positive patients have died in Uttarakhand till now, with 16 patients dying due to coronavirus, according to the health officials. The rest of the positive patients died due to co-morbidities and other causes, added health officials.

Curfew in pockets of Nainital after tension over cleric’s samples for Covid-19 test

On Sunday, health department staff who has been going door-to-door in the area to collect samples for Covid-19 infection had gone to a local mosque to collect a sample from a mosque cleric staying there. The cleric, however, had refused to give his samples for testing.
