Social Activist Stephens Mathews’ health worsened on the 9th day of his hunger strike. Owing to his poor health condition, he has been shifted to a hospital. Stephen Mathew demands the arrest of rape accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal. Bishop Franco Mulakkal is accused of raping and having unnatural sex multiple times with a Kerala nun between 2014 and 2016. Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel broke his indefinite hunger strike after 19 days on Wednesday. Hardik launched his indefinite fast on August 25 from his house for reservation in government jobs and education for Patidars and loan waiver for farmers. Hardik said he was firm on his demands which included a farm loan waiver, Patidar quota and release of PAAS member Alpesh Kathiriya who was arrested on the charge of sedition. As Patidar leader Hardik Patel’s fast unto death entered the 9th day on Sunday, he said he has made his will, anticipating he may die of hunger following no response from the state government to his agitation. His parents, a gaushala (cow shelter) and kin of 14 Patidar youths who died in violent protests three years ago have been named as inheritors of his will.
After the intervention of the district and police officers, the hunger strike was called off and the farmers were sent for immediate medical attention to the government hospital late Tuesday. read more
