Global death toll due to Covid-19 tops 5 million in under 2 years

India, despite its terrifying delta surge that peaked in early May, now has a much lower reported daily death rate than wealthier Russia, the US or Britain, though there is uncertainty around its figures.

The strain has also been found in Colorado, Texas, New York, Georgia, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, in a total of 63 cases.

Texas becomes first US state to surpass one million coronavirus cases

Texas is one of the 31 states that hit a record number of coronavirus cases this week, Johns Hokins University said. In Harris County, there are more than 167,000 cases and more than 2,300 deaths.

How India reached the grim figure of 4 million Covid-19 cases

India has the third-highest number of coronavirus infections in the world, after the US and Brazil. Brazil has confirmed 4,091,801 infections while the US has 6,200,186 people infected, according to Johns Hopkins University.
