While Revenue minister E Chandrasekharan received the jab from the vaccination centre at the same hospital,Minister of Ports and Museums Kadannappally Ramachandran got the shot from a hospital in his home district, Kannur.

The minister said the aim of Back to Basics campaign is to educate the public about the importance of following Covid-19 related protocols and reducing disease transmission.
"It is time for the healthcare workers to get their second dose of vaccine by February 13.Therefore the plan is to complete the first phase of vaccination by February 15 and commence the second phase of the drive after that," the health minister said.(ANI Photo)

A total of 133 vaccination centres were allotted in the southern state in the initial phase which were being increased with the availability of more doses of vaccines.

Kerala’s health department has said only six people were confirmed to have been infected by shigellosis so far and 26 others are suspected cases of the infection.

Citing expert opinion that Covid-19 cases may increase after the elections health minister K K Shailaja asked people to get themselves tested in case of any symptoms. She also advised the public to self- quarantine and remain patient until a vaccine for the pandemic is made available.
