2 weeks after Amritsar jailbreak, iron roads seized from 2 inmates

Around two weeks after three undertrials escaped from the Amritsar central jail, the authorities have seized two iron roads from two inmates. This has, once again, raised a question mark on the security of the prison. On February 2, three undertrials had made a hole in a barrack wall using an iron rod and escaped the high-security jail by scaling its inner and outer walls.

Newborn body found near Gurdev Enclave in Patiala

A newborn girl was found dead near Gurdev Enclave in Patiala on Friday late evening. The child was mauled by stray dogs after some unidentified person(s) dumped her in a vacant plot. Kotwali station house officer (SHO) Sukhdev Singh said that they came to know about the incident after some residents spotted stray dogs feeding on the newborn.

The district police have booked the husband in-laws of a 29-year-old pregnant woman after postmortem reports cleared that she had died due to abdominal injuries after she was allegedly thrashed by her in-laws. The victim, Gagandeep Kaur, was pregnant when she was admitted at a private hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.

Injured recount blast horror at Amritsar hospital

Some of those injured in a firecracker factory explosion at Gurdaspur district’s Batala on Wednesday afternoon recounted the horror at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital (GNDH) where they were brought for treatment. Seven of the injured were referred to GNDH by the Batala civil hospital as one of the factory owners, Amrit Singh, 32, was declared dead on arrival.

Resident docs’ strike at GNDH enters day 4; newborn referred out, dies at civil hospital

Health services at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital (GNDH’s) out-patient department (OPD), surgical wards, operation theatres, medicine ward, emergency and gynaecology ward continued to be hit as senior and junior resident doctors, with medical students, continued their strike for the fourth consecutive day on Friday.
