Umar Khalid files fresh bail plea after police’s objection

Senior advocate Trideep Pais, appearing for Khalid, told additional sessions judge Amitabh Rawat that the application seeking bail under Section 439 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has been substituted with one under Section 437.

Charges against Khalid reads like script of web series, his lawyer tells court

Pais said the charge sheet makes hyperbolic allegations against his client without any factual basis. Drawing parallels between the statements carried in the charge sheet and the villain of Harry Potter series, Lord Voldemort, Pais stated that the final report filed by the police was “rubbish”.

Umar Khalid granted bail in connection with Northeast Delhi riots case

The court noted that Khalid cannot be made to incarcerate in jail for infinity merely on account of the fact that other persons who were part of the riotous mob have to be identified and arrested in the matter, reported Live Law, citing the court's observation.

During an urgent hearing on Saturday, Khalid’s lawyer, Trideep Pais, told additional sessions judge Amitabh Rawat that he sought a soft copy of the charge sheet even though the earlier date for supplying charge sheet to the arrested persons was December 2.

Let Umar Khalid step out of jail cell: Court

The jail’s reply came after Khalid, who is accused of hatching a conspiracy to orchestrate the north-east Delhi riots, told the court on Thursday that he was not allowed to step out of his cell; was kept alone; and was not allowed to meet anyone. He alleged this was akin to solitary confinement.
