PV Sindhu created history by becoming the first Indian to win a singles silver medal in badminton while Saina Nehwal clinched bronze at the Asian Games 2018. The Indian women’s archery team won the silver medal in the compound event, narrowly losing out to South Korea. The men’s compound team also lost to South Korea narrowly and got the silver medal. The Indian men’s table tennis team also got a bronze medal.
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at the Asian Games on Monday and later said she needed to change the colour of medal since she had way too many career silver medals. The 23-year old won gold in women’s 50 kg freestyle wrestling by beating Japan’s Yuki Irie 6-2 in the final. “I wanted to change the colour of my medal and I was adamant for this even before I landed in Jakarta,” said Vinesh.
