Visa issues cloud Asian wrestling meet in Capital

United World Wrestling (UWW), the world governing body in wrestling, has warned the Indian federation that all participating nations need to be given visas, or else India may be penalised by being barred from the Asian Olympic qualifier scheduled in March in China.

Ritu Phogat to replace Vinesh Phogat in 50kg for Worlds, Pinki back in 53kg

Vinesh Phogat, who was a medal favourite, suffered an elbow injury on Friday during practice and was ruled out. The WFI had entered Ritu Phogat’s name in the 53kg after original choice Pinki refused to appear in a re-trial.

Foreign coaches to be at helm as Indian wrestlers prepare for Asian Games

Despite winning 11 medals, including five gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games (CWG 2018) in Gold Coast, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has acknowledged that competition at the Asian Games will not be a cakewalk, and hence the move towards foreign coaches.
