Board President’s XI vs South Africa Highlights: Rohit flops, Bharat, Lad shine as match ends in a draw

Hindustan Times, New Delhi | By HT Correspondent
UPDATED ON SEP 28, 2019 05:19 PM IST

Board President’s XI vs South Africa Highlights: It was not a good first outing for Rohit Sharma as an opener in this format as he departed for a duck. There was pressure on the hosts as Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada were relentless in their opening spells. However, young players in Priyank Panchal, KS Bharat and Siddhesh Lad stood tall and played impressive innings to drag their side close to South Africa’s first-innings score. The match ended in a stalemate, but it would have given the visitors a lot of hope. Also, the form of Aiden Markram with the bat should give South Africa a lot of confidence ahead of the first Test match which begins on October 2.BP XI vs South Africa, as it happened:

Board President’s XI vs South Africa as it happened: As expected. The light did not improve and stumps has been called on day 2. The day belonged to Aiden Markram, who scored a sparkling century after South Africa opted to bat first on a rain-hit day. Temba Bavuma too played his part with an unbeaten half century. As far as Board President XI bowlers were concerned, Umesh Yadav was very expensive. He did pick up the wicket of Dean Elgar but conceded runs at an economy rate of 4.43. Left-arm spinner Dharmendrasinh Jadeja picked up two wickets but he too was on the expensive side. South Africa ended the day at 199 for 4. The toss took place on day 2 after the first day’s play was washed out. This is the only practice match before the three-match Test series begins from October 2 at Visakhapatnam.Follow BP XI vs South Africa highlights here:
